Riesling is a grape variety adapted to the northern regions, where it ripens slowly under the autumn sun. The location where this vine variety is planted must be carefully chosen: the orientation towards the sun as well as the type of soil, have a great influence on its development. The Luxembourg Moselle, with its shell limestone and steep and stony heat-storing slopes, offers ideal conditions for Riesling production.
Typically, Riesling has a pale yellow colour with green reflections. Its nose is dominated by peach, apple and citrus fruits. You can find a racy and fruity acidity with distinctive notes of fresh citrus fruits on the palate. Our Riesling goes particularly well with steamed fish, poultry or meat in a light sauce. As a regional gastro tip it can also be served with a “Choucroute garnie”.
"It fills me with pride to see that we give people happiness when they taste our wines. I love every season, but especially the grape harvest, it is a joy when I can taste the first grapes!"
Laura Demuth, Wormeldange
When I see the happiness we bring to people when they taste our wines, it fills me with pride. I love every period of the year, but especially the grape harvest, this moment of joy when I can taste the first grapes!
"I like to always be in motion, in the middle of the vineyards, with this splendid view from the hillside of the Moselle…My grandfather was one of the founders of the cooperative and I am proud to continue this tradition. What I prefer is to be in our plots in Wormeldange, to produce the grapes for excellent Rieslings and the landscape is superb."
These two major characteristics make up all the richness of the Luxembourg Riesling. This makes it very popular with delicate dishes. I particularly appreciate that working in my vines brings happiness to people on various occasions. That is my greatest pride.
